LOYOLA UNIVERSITY NEW ORLEANS, College of Music and Media has selected Dr. Sheryl Kennedy Haunel as its new director of the school of communication and design. Dr. Haydel has taught at eight universities, including Tulane, Xavier and Dillard. Most recently, she taught strategic communications and public relations as the G. Lee Griffin Distinguished Assistant Professor of Public Relations at Louisiana State University Manship School of Communication.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, several chapters in the Archdiocese of New Orleans recently received the top recognition as a Star council, recognizing overall excellence in growing membership, promoting Knights of Columbus insurance benefits, sponsoring Catholic faith formation programs and volunteering at service-oriented activities. Ascension of Our Lord KC Council 9623, also earning the No. 1 KC Council in the state of Louisiana because of its programs to help the elderly, youth, homebound families and fundraisers for families in need like those hit by hurricanes Laura and Delta in southwest Louisiana; St. Catherine of Siena Council 12686 in Metairie. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Harry Tompson S.J. Assembly at Mary Queen of Peace Church in Mandeville earned an award for excellence in religious education. It named Supreme Knight Don Sustendal its Knight of the Year for his work with the Assemblies Chalice Program for needy priests.

CARMELITE NGO is seeking financial support to help get vaccines, masks and medicine to women who have been rescued from sex trafficking by its ministry “Agape Leona” in Zimbabwe. Local Mount Carmel Sister Jane Remson said the ministry provides counseling and job training to women to help them rebuild their lives. The majority of the 80 women at Agape Leona have COVID.
