JAZZ MUSIC, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. Mass at the University of New Orleans Newman Center. Four freshman students will perform a Jazz Mass with a bass player, piano, singer and sax. Four religious songs – one by Duke Ellington, another by Miles Davis, the Anima Christi and Amazing Grace – are included. Due to COVID-19, there is a 50-person maximum in the chapel.

LOYOLA UNIVERSITY NEW ORLEANS named Dr. Kedrick Perry vice president of equity and inclusion to provide clear leadership over the development and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion practices at Loyola, whose student body is composed of more than 50% students of color. Perry previously served as head of diversity and outreach in the National Science Foundation’s Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Science and executive director of the Grand Challenges Scholars Program at the University of California, Berkeley, where he built a pipeline of diverse graduate students in STEM. He also served as director of the Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program at Suffolk University in Boston and worked in the Office of Graduate Student Diversity Programs at the University of Virginia. Dr. Perry received a doctorate in higher education from the University of Virginia, studying the effects of mentoring on underrepresented students. He has a master of public administration and a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from North Carolina State University.
