As a new year dawns, many of us conduct an inventory of our lives. What can we do without? What do we need to increase? What gifts do we have to share? What imperfections need our attention?
As you reflect this year, gently be reminded not to compare yourself to others but recognize that you are unique and have been created for a purpose different than all others.
And, as you make your plans for change, this is the perfect time to resolve to increase your spiritual strength.
Jesus is waiting for you.
As Mary and Joseph searched three days after the festival for Jesus before finding him in the temple, so too must we actively search for him. We are, each of us, created in God’s image and called to make the journey toward him.
With a first step in an adoration chapel that so many parishes in our archdiocese have, you will find him waiting.
As a mother and wife, I often feel called to set a prayerful example for my family. At Mass, while I devote my heart and mind to the liturgy and Eucharist, I admit, a part of me is still with my family and not with the Mass – even when I go to Mass alone.
When I attend adoration, however, I am totally his. I can give God all of my attention and love in a way much different than in my quiet prayer time at home or during my prayerful long runs.
In the adoration chapel, he is there, physically there – the resurrected Lord’s precious and wounded heart is there beating before me.
Jesus is thirsting for you.
Please resolve to give him one hour of your time in adoration this year. Parishes are in need of regular adorers.
But, whether you visit him all at once or in intervals, make the walk to find him and quench his thirst. In doing this, you may learn how powerful surrender can be.
Jesus is listening closely to every beat of your heart. He is waiting to hear your heart beat for him.
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
