Four Jesuits of the USA Central and Southern Province, including New Orleans native James R. Page, were ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Gregory Aymond June 12 at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans.
Another ordinand, Christopher Kellerman, has worked at the Jesuit Social Research Institute at Loyola University New Orleans for the past year.
Fathers Page and Kellerman were ordained along with their brother Jesuits, Louis R. Hotop and Brian Strassburger, left and right.
In addition, Daniel Mora Arenas, was ordained in Bogotá, Colombia, on June 3.
Father Page attended Pomona College for undergraduate studies and majored in economics, while also becoming involved in a number of Bible study groups across the campuses of the Claremont Consortium.
Entering the second semester of his junior year, he met Jesuit Father Donald Hawkins, at that time the pastor of the Holy Name of Jesus Church, who suggested that Page consider a vocation to the priesthood.
His first assignment as a priest will be serving at St. Francis Xavier College Church in St. Louis and assisting in Saint Louis University’s campus ministry.
