Richard Cheri, director of the Archdiocese of New Orleans Gospel Choir, leads his vocal ensemble in a spiritual in the Gospel Tent at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 29. During the seven-day fest, Gospel lovers from around the world were treated to instrumental and vocal music from the St. Peter Claver Singers, Shades of Praise New Orleans Interracial Gospel Choir, St. Joseph the Worker Music Ministry, and Connie and Dwight Fitch with the St. Raymond and St. Leo the Great Choir.

Irma Thomas, the “Soul Queen of New Orleans,” mesmerized her throngs of admirers at the Gospel Tent.
Shades of Praise, the New Orleans Interracial Choir, was directed by Dwight Fitch Sr., music director at St. Raymond and St. Leo the Great Church.
