Holy Cross seniors gain closeness with classmates at retreat

    Holy Cross School’s 114 seniors attended two recent retreats in December at the Solomon Episcopal Center. For some, it was one of the most eye-opening experiences one can have in a high school career. Others felt much closer to their class mates than ever before.
    Overall, it was an amazing experience for everyone. Students were emotionally touched as their fellow Holy Cross classmates opened up to each other. What the Holy Cross family instills in its student body is something only those who have walked the halls of Holy Cross will understand.
    Retreats, led by a senior peer ministers, are presented to all grades. As one grows and matures through his Holy Cross journey, the retreats become deeper and much more inspiring. By the time a student is a senior, the retreat is strictly focused on the aspect of family, and less about the situations that come with growing up as a teenager.
    At the first senior retreat this year, we as a class discussed family and faith and developed a closer relationship and friendship with one another and God. With our hearts calmed and our minds focused on God, we were able to talk and listen as each person spoke about his individual family and spiritual life.
    Compared to the past years’ retreats, the senior retreat is definitely the best, and many people realized this from the moment we began our activities.
    Our guest speaker was by far one of the most outstanding speakers many of us had ever listened to before. Along with that, the leaders of our retreat did an exceptional job at organization and planning one of the best experiences one goes through during his senior year at Holy Cross.
    I know that I am not alone when I say that I saw God working through others during the retreat, and I am more than privileged to have attended it.
