Lenten Fish Fries are back!

Even with the pandemic, you just can’t stop Catholic parish groups that hold fish fries during Lent. It is a tradition many look forward to and can be done safely.

Here is an up-to-date list of parishes and schools that have reported pick-up or drive-thru fish fries during Lent: 

Archbishop Rummel, Raider Fishing Club Lent Fish Fry, March 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 3-6 p.m. (or until all dinners are sold). Dinners are $9 each and include fried fish, salad and corn. 1901 Severn Ave., Metairie.

Ascension of Our Lord, Knights of Columbus 9623. Lenten fish fry drive-thru, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Social distancing and masks in effect. Adult fish plate with two pieces of fried or grilled fish, Cajun boiled corn, potatoes, $10; child's plate, $8. Major credit, debit card, checks accepted. Proceeds support the Rev. Benjamin Piovan Scholarship Program. 1900 Greenwood Drive, LaPlace.

Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, Feb. 26, March 5, 12, 19, 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m., take-out only in church parking lot, 3037 Dauphine St., New Orleans. Adult dinner, $10 with two pieces of fried fish, cole slaw, mac and cheese, green beans, bread and dessert. Child’s plate (10 years and younger), $5 includes one piece of fried fish, one side, bread, dessert. (504) 943-5566.

De La Salle High School, March 12 and 19, $10 a plate. See menu and make pre-pay orders at delasallenola.com/fish-fry. On March 12, pre-pay order pickup is at noon, and drive-thru is open from 5-7 p.m.; on March 19, pre-pay order pickup is at 3 p.m., and drive-thru is open 3-7 p.m. Proceeds benefit girls' athletics programs.

Divine Mercy Parish, Knights of Columbus, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy., Kenner: Drive-thru fish fry in church parking lot. Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. $10 plate of fried fish, fries, corn on the cob, roll.

Holy Family, 1220 14th Ave., Franklinton, USA Catfish Fry, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26, 4-7 p.m. $10 plate includes 1/2 lb. portion of catfish, potato planks, coleslaw, corn, toast and dessert. Take out and curbside only (COVID compliant). All proceeds go to Holy Family's Friends of St. Francis and the Help Center of Churches Food Bank.

Holy Family, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling (Parish Center), Knights of Columbus. $8 per plate. Feb. 26, Fried fish and sides. March 5, Fish tacos and sides. Feb. 26 will be donated to St. Mark, Ama, to supplement the loss of income from their not having theirs due to COVID concerns.

Holy Name of Mary/Knights of Columbus Council 1724, 342 Olivier St., Algiers Point: Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26. Catfish $10; Shrimp $11; Combo $12. All dinners come with French fries, coleslaw, green beans and bread. Take out only - MASK. Cash or check. Credit/debit card $0.25 fee per transaction.

Jesuit High School, Drive-thru Bazaar food fest, March 20, noon-3 p.m., John Ryan Stadium. Meals can be pre-purchased from Acme Oyster House, Central City BBQ and Drago’s Seafood. Our Lady of Divine Providence, 1000 North Starrett, Metairie, corner West Metairie. Knights of Columbus Council 9347. Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26, 4 p.m. until. Our Lady of Lourdes, 345 Westchester Blvd., Slidell, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 26. Drive-thru only, 5-8 p.m. Fried fish, crab-boiled smashed potatoes, salad, roll and dessert. $10 per dinner. Our Lady of Perpetual Help KCs, 8968 Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse: Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, drive-thru only 5:30-8 p.m. at KC Hall, $10 catfish plate with choice of French fries or white beans. All plates include cole slaw and French bread.

Our Lady of the Angels, 6851 River Road, Waggaman, all Lenten Fridays except Good Friday (Feb. 26, March 5, 12, 19, 26). Fried fish dinner (4 pieces) $10, boiled corn and potatoes, homemade roll. Blackened fish dinner (2 fillets) $10, Cajun boiled corn and potatoes, homemade dinner roll. Shrimp and okra gumbo dinner. No substitutions. Drive-thru only.

St. Ann Church and National Shrine (outside St. Ann Cafeteria, 4900 block Meadowdale St., Metairie), 6-8 p.m.Knights of Columbus and Men’s Club cook on different Fridays. Drive thru only. St. Catherine of Siena, 105 Bonnabel Blvd, Metairie, drive-thru fish fries every Friday from Feb. 26 through March 26, 5:30-7 p.m. Menu: fried fish or shrimp or combo plate with hush puppies, fried and salad; soft shell crab; pizza.

St. Cletus, 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna, Knights of Columbus, KC Hall behind church, 5-8 p.m. Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26. Fish plates $10. Also, oyster or shrimp plates and poboys. Desserts and drinks available. Eat in with COVID guidelines, take out, drive-thru.   

St. Dominic, 775 Harrison Ave., New Orleans: Feb. 26 and March 26, drive-thru only 6-7:30 p.m.; catfish plates, adult $10 or child $6, includes macaroni & cheese, green beans, bread and a brownie.  

St. Francis Xavier Church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, drive-thru only. Feb. 26 and March 12 fish fries; March 26 crawfish boil. Fried fish $10 a plate. Gumbo, $6; pizza, $1/slice. Crawfish depends on cost. 

St. Gabriel the Archangel, 4700 Pineda St., New Orleans, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26. Drive-thru Lenten Fish Fry. $10 plate includes two pieces of fried fish, mac & cheese, veggies, salad (potato or tossed), bread, dessert and drink. Baked fish is available as a pre-order item only (before noon Thursdays). 4700 Pineda St., New Orleans.

St. Hubert, 176 Anthony Monica St., Garyville, Parish Hall. 4:30-7 p.m. Eat in or take out. All Fridays in Lent (except Good Friday). $10 plates include fried fish, macaroni and cheese, a vegetable and dessert.

St. Jane de Chantal KCs, Abita Springs: Feb. 26; March 5, 12 19, 26: Pickup only in Parish Hall, Fried fish or shrimp plates ($9) includes French fries, coleslaw, bread, drink of choice. Desserts for nominal fee.

St. Joachim, Marrero: Feb. 26, March 5, 12, 19, 26: $9 plates include 4 pieces fish, coleslaw, fries, roll and sweet snack. Drive-thru only.

St. Joan of Arc, 346 Fir St., LaPlace, (drive-thru only) Knights of Columbus, Lenten Fridays, 3:30-6:30 p.m. Fish plates: $10; shrimp and combos $12. Plates include roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, hush puppies.

St. John of the Cross KC Council 12989, 61030 Brier Lake Drive, Lacombe: Feb. 26, March 12, 26, drive-thru only 4:30-7 p.m., $10 plate includes fried La. catfish, Gulf wild-caught shrimp, smashed potatoes, hush puppies and green beans.

St. John the Baptist, 11345 St. John Church Road, Folsom, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26. Fried domestic catfish, coleslaw, hush puppies, twice baked potatoes, $10/plate; drinks $1. Drive-thru only.

St. Joseph, St. Vincent de Paul Society, 610 Sixth St., Gretna, March 26, 5-6:30 p.m. Take out only. Fish dinner includes fried fish, baked macaroni, coleslaw, dessert and bread $10; or shrimp and grits dinner includes shrimp, grits, coleslaw, dessert and bread $10.

St. Louis King of France, 1609 Carrollton Avenue, Metairie: Feb. 26, March 5 & 12, drive-thru only 4:30-7:30 p.m., all plates served with corn, bread and French fries - shrimp or catfish $11, combo $13; side French fries $3, slice cheese pizza $2, desserts $2, drinks available for purchase.

St. Margaret Mary, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell, Men’s Club fish fries Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26. Drive-thru only 5:30-8 p.m. Enter at El Paso gate. $10 fried fish plates with mac and cheese, coleslaw, roll.

St. Mary Magdalen Men's Club, 6425 West Metairie Avenue, Metairie: Feb. 26 and March 12, pickup only in Parish Hall beginning 4 p.m., $10 catfish plates include white bean, bread and salad. Drink and desserts $1 each.

St. Peter, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, Knights of Columbus Council 12906, will host drive-up Lenten fish fries on Fridays, Feb. 19 through March 26, 5:30-8 p.m. $10: fried catfish or fried shrimp with potato salad, fries and a roll. Pick-up line begins on Jefferson and 19th streets, Covington. 

St. Philip Neri, 6500 Kawanee Ave., Metairie, Feb. 26, $12 adult plate,  generous portion of domestic fried catfish, baked macaroni and cheese, green beans and French bread slice; $6 kids' plate: smaller portion of all. Prepayment preferred. Info at www.spnmensclub.org.

St. Rita School and Mater Dolorosa KC Council, New Orleans, drive-thru fish fry Feb. 26, March 12, 26, 5-8 p.m. $15 includes an oversized piece of fish, mac and cheese, potato salad, peas, buttered French bread, one soft drink, $10.Extra soft drink, $1. Cash or credit card. Proceeds divided between Mater Dolorosa KC and St. Rita School. Pickup at 65 Fontainebleu Drive at Lowerline and Broad Place.
