Even with the pandemic, you just can’t stop Catholic parish groups that hold fish fries during Lent. It is a tradition many look forward to and can be done safely.
Here is an up-to-date list of parishes and schools that have reported pick-up or drive-thru fish fries during Lent:
Archbishop Rummel, Raider Fishing Club Lent Fish Fry, March 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 3-6 p.m. (or until all dinners are sold). Dinners are $9 each and include fried fish, salad and corn. 1901 Severn Ave., Metairie.
Ascension of Our Lord, Knights of Columbus 9623. Lenten fish fry drive-thru, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Social distancing and masks in effect. Adult fish plate with two pieces of fried or grilled fish, Cajun boiled corn, potatoes, $10; child's plate, $8. Major credit, debit card, checks accepted. Proceeds support the Rev. Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, Feb. 26, March 5, 12, 19, 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m., take-out only in church parking lot, 3037 Dauphine St., New Orleans. Adult dinner, $10 with two pieces of fried fish, cole slaw, mac and cheese, green beans, bread and dessert. On March 12, pre-pay order pickup is at noon, and drive-thru is open from 5-7 p.m.; on March 19, pre-pay order pickup is at 3 p.m., and drive-thru is open 3-7 p.m. Proceeds benefit girls' athletics programs.

Holy Family, 1220 14th Ave., Franklinton, USA Catfish Fry, Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26, 4-7 p.m. $10 plate includes 1/2 lb. portion of catfish, potato planks, coleslaw, corn, toast and dessert. Take out and curbside only (COVID compliant). All proceeds go to Holy Family's Friends of St. Francis and the Help Center of Churches Food Bank.
Holy Family, 155 Holy Family Lane, Luling (Parish Center), Knights of Columbus. $8 per plate. Feb. 26, Fried fish and sides. March 5, Fish tacos and sides. Feb. 26 will be donated to St. Mark, Ama, to supplement the loss of income from their not having theirs due to COVID concerns.
Holy Name of Mary/Knights of Columbus Council 1724, 342 Olivier St., Algiers Point: Feb. 26; March 5, 12, 19, 26. Catfish $10; Shrimp $11; Combo $12. St. Peter, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, Knights of Columbus Council 12906, will host drive-up Lenten fish fries on Fridays, Feb. 19 through March 26, 5:30-8 p.m. $10: fried catfish or fried shrimp with potato salad, fries and a roll. Pick-up line begins on Jefferson and 19th streets, Covington.
