ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CHURCH, annual free Fourth of July Concert with soloist Sarah Jane McMahon, June 30, 3 p.m., 444 Metairie Road, Metairie. The concert, “Songs and Letters from World War II,” will feature letters from soldiers, patriotic songs and popular music from the war era. McMahon will be joined by soloist Linden Uter, the music director of St. Francis Xavier Church, and Margo Uter, who will read wartime letters from her grandparents. A good will offering will be collected. The Knights of Columbus will serve free hot dogs from 1:15-2:30 p.m. in the gym.

KUDOSEW ORLEANS has appointed Leonard Kahn, D.Phil., as the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. A dedicated member of the Loyola community since 2013, Kahn served as the interim dean since last June and officially assumed his new role on June 1. Kahn’s strategic vision for the College of Arts and Sciences focuses on expanding research opportunities, enhancing teaching methodologies, supporting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, fostering student development and improving shared governance.
OZANAM INN and SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK and SVDP NOLA will be honored during VIA LINK’s first Marguerite Redwine award luncheon, on June 13 at the Arbor Room, at Popp’s Fountain, in City Park. Award recipients were chosen based on needs in the community, the ease of working with the staff, feedback from callers about the referrals and information they were provided.

SAINT ANDREWS VILLAGE, fund-raising raffle two suite tickets to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour Concert on Oct. 25 at the Caesars Superdome. Suite tickets include free food, drinks and parking. Chances are $100 a ticket and must be purchased by July 7. The drawing will be July 9 at 6:30 p.m. on the steps of Gretna City Hall, 740 2nd St. Gretna. Winner does not need to be present.
