Churches plan Divine Mercy novenas, services

The following churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans will host liturgies, novenas and prayer services in connection with Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7:

ST. JOSEPH CHURCH, 1802 Tulane Ave., New Orleans: Divine Mercy Mass, April 7, 3 p.m., Archbishop Emeritus Alfred C. Hughes, celebrant. Reconciliation begins at 1 p.m., eucharistic adoration and rosary at 1:30 p.m., 2:20 p.m. Divine Mercy chaplet. Blessing with the first class relic of St. Faustina after Mass.

ALL SAINTS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1441 Teche Street New Orleans: April 7,  Divine Mercy chaplet and Eucharistic adoration immediately after 9 a.m. Mass in the church.

DIVINE MERCY PARISH, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy., Kenner: Divine Mercy Masses, April 7, 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. (Español), and 4 p.m., with celebrants Father Luis Rodriguez and Father Luis Duarte. Eucharistic adoration, exposition, Divine Mercy devotions, and bilingual confessions will be held inside the church after the 12:30 p.m. Mass with benediction to conclude at 3:45 p.m.

MARY QUEEN OF VIETNAM, 5069 Willowbrook Drive, New Orleans: Good Friday, 2:15 p.m.; March 30, 3-4 p.m., chaplet and Stations of the Cross; March 31 to April 6, 3-4 p.m., recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet with adoration, Gospel and homily about Divine Mercy and benediction; April 5-6, 7-8 p.m., Divine Mercy Mission with Domus Dei Father Joseph Maria Tung Duc Vu; April 7,  2 p.m., Father Vu preaches about Divine Mercy; 3 p.m., adoration, Gospel homily and chaplet followed by 3:30 p.m. Divine Mercy Mass.

MATER DOLOROSA, 1230 South Carrollton Ave., New Orleans: Divine Mercy novena chaplet beginning Good Friday, 10 a.m. with confessions from 10:15-11:15 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Holy Saturday, chaplet at 10 a.m., confessions 5:30-7 p.m.; Easter Sunday, chaplet 10 a.m.; April 1-6, 8:30 a.m. chaplet; April 7, 10:30 a.m.; then Divine Mercy Mass at 3 p.m., Father Herb Kiff Jr., celebrant, preceded by confession and adoration at 2 p.m., Divine Mass chaplet chant at 2:30 p.m.

OUR LADY STAR OF THE SEA, 1835 St. Roch Ave., New Orleans: Prayer service to the Divine Mercy, April 7, with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament beginning at 2:30 p.m., and recitation of the chaplet of the Divine Mercy at 3 p.m.

OUR LADY OF THE LAKE, 312 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, April 7 from 3-4:30 p.m., celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, rosary and Divine Mercy chaplet, confessions, veneration of Divine Mercy Image and benediction.

OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP, 1908 Short St., Kenner: April 7, Adoration begins after 12:30 p.m. Mass, continuing until 2:30 p.m. Chaplet at 2:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 3 p.m.

SACRED HEART, 28088 Main St., Lacombe: Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2:30 p.m., with exposition at 2:45 p.m., recitation of Divine Mercy litany and chaplet of Divine Mercy, followed by benediction and Mass with Father Thomas Kilasara.

ST. ANSELM, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville: April 7, 2 p.m. exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with Divine Mercy chaplet at 3 p.m. followed by benediction. Novena begins March 29 at 7:30 p.m. and continues March 30-April 6 at 6:30 p.m.

ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA, 2234 Angus Drive, Luling. April 7, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and confession, at 1 p.m.; prayers of reparation, 1:45-2:40 p.m.; singing of Divine Mercy chaplet at 2:40 p.m., followed by Mass.

ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie: Divine Mercy Novena, March 29-April 5 after 9 a.m. Mass and April 6 at 9 a.m.

ST. FRANCIS XAVIER, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie: April 6, 4 p.m. vigil Mass. On April 7, 8 a.m. Mass; Divine Mercy chaplet after the 8 a.m. Mass and confessions from 9:10-10 a.m. Also, Masses at 10 a.m., noon and 6 p.m.  

ST. GENEVIEVE, 58203 Hwy. 433, Slidell:  Divine Mercy novena begins Good Friday. April 7, adoration from 1-3 p.m., confession from 1-2 p.m., scriptural rosary at 2 p.m., spiritual talk on Divine Mercy by Father Gerald Seiler, pastor, at 2:30 p.m.; chaplet of Divine Mercy, 2:45 p.m.

ST. JAMES MAJOR, 3736 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans: Divine Mercy Mass, April 7, 10 a.m.

ST. JANE DE CHANTAL, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs: April 7, 3-4:30 p.m., Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Divine Mercy chaplet, Divine Mercy devotions, benediction and confessions.

ST. JEROME, 2402 33rd St., Kenner:  Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2-3 p.m. outdoor procession followed by adoration (Spanish only) in church from 3-4 p.m. including recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet.

 

ST. JOACHIM, 5505 Barataria Blvd., Marrero: Divine Mercy Novena beginning Good Friday at 2:30 p.m.; Holy Saturday, 7:45 p.m.; Easter Sunday, 10 a.m.; April 1-2, 5:45 p.m; April 3-5, 11:45 a.m.; April 6, 3:45 p.m.; Feast of Divine Mercy, April 7, 3 p.m.

ST. JOAN OF ARC, LaPlace: Divine Mercy novena in church Good Friday, after 3 p.m. service; Holy Saturday, 3 p.m.; Easter Sunday, 7 p.m., April 1 and April 3-5, 7 p.m.; April 2, following 6 p.m. Mass at 6:30 p.m.; April 6, following 4:30 p.m. Mass; Divine Mercy Sunday, Holy Hour 2:30-3:30 p.m., with chaplet being sung at 3 p.m.

ST. JOHN BOSCO, 2114 Oakmere Drive, Harvey: April 7, Divine Mercy chaplet, rosary and benediction at 3 p.m. followed by light refreshments.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, 15405 Hwy. 90, Paradis: Private daily recitation of the Divine Mercy novena will begin on Good Friday, concluding in the church on April 7 at 3 p.m. with recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet, novena and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and closing with benediction.

ST. JOHN OF THE CROSS,  61030 Brier Lake Drive, Lacombe: Divine Mercy Hour, April 7 from 2:30-3:30 p.m., consisting of eucharistic adoration, the rosary, the Divine Mercy chaplet at 3 p.m., and prayers for special intentions.

ST. JOSEPH THE WORKER, 455 Ames Blvd., Marrero:  Divine Mercy service will be April 7 at 3 p.m.

ST. MARY MAGDALEN, 6425 West Metairie Ave., Metairie: Divine Mercy novena, April 1-6 in church. Remaining novena prayers at home.

ST. PATRICK, 28698 Hwy. 11 Port Sulphur: April 7, 3 p.m. Mass.

ST. PETER, 125 East 19th Ave., Covington: Divine Mercy Mass, April 7, 5 p.m. Adoration begins at 2:45 p.m. A brief history of Divine Mercy will be given, followed by recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet at 3 p.m. and every 30 minutes until 5 p.m. Confessions heard 3-5 p.m.

STS. PETER AND ST. PAUL, 66192 St. Mary Drive, Pearl River. April 6, ivine Mercy chaplet and confessions beginning at 3 p.m.

VISITATION OF OUR LADY, 3500 Ames Blvd., Marrero: Adoration following the regular noon Mass on April 7, with the Divine Mercy chaplet every half-hour with confessions available, ending with benediction at 5 p.m. Regular Sunday Mass at 6 p.m.
