Dominican Academic Honor Day Salutes Students

St. Mary’s Dominican High School saluted students for their achievements and service at the end-of-the-school-year Academic Honor Day.

Student award recognition include district and state rally, Louisiana Music Educators Association, National Greek Exam and athletics.

A "Salute to Seniors" presentation recognized members of the class of 2022 in the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, National Language Honor Societies and Advanced Placements, National Merit Recognition, Honor Graduates and acceptance at colleges and universities.

Kaylie Nguyen received the St. Mary’s Dominican College Corporation Scholarship presented by Sr. Dominic Savio Estorge, O.P. as a representative of the scholarship committee. Graduating seniors who have been accepted and are attending a Catholic college or university can apply for this scholarship. In memory of the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary who established, maintained and supported both St. Mary’s Dominican College and St. Mary’s Dominican High School.


Corinne Lobell received the Knights of Columbus Patriotic Award, presented to the senior who has displayed the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism and in doing so has shown the highest degree of citizenship by helping others, especially those less fortunate.

During their years at Dominican, the class of 2022 completed 25,273 hours of service, one of the four pillars of Dominican life. Students who performed more than 200 service hours were: Madison Baglio, Monica Cabes, Tori Egan, Baileigh Goines, Sara Landry, Elizabeth Latimer, Catherine Mansfield, Kayleigh Nguyen, Emma Nichols, Maria Anna Stavrakis, Maeve Storm and Nicolina Totorico.

Eight students who completed over 300 hours of service (main photo) were  Falynn Bouton, Ellie Dalton, Abigail Lee, Kayla Little, Jessica Mora, Jenna Thomas, Selae Walker and Samantha White.


The 2021-22 Executive Board (E-Board) officers Catherine Kernion (president), Khylar Christophe (vice-president), Anne Carr (secretary), and Monica Cabes (treasurer) received E-Board medals for outstanding leadership and service.


Members of the Class of 2022 were inducted into the school’s Alumnae Association by association president Sally Russo, class of 2004. Alumnae presented each senior with a commemorative rosary as a symbol of sharing the Dominican legacy from one generation to the next. The rosaries were designed by Rebecca “Becky” Bellows Crawford, class of 1986 and handmade by Peggy Delarosa, class of 1969.
