St. Frances Xavier Cabrini's early missionary years in the United States are chronicled in the $40 million blockbuster movie, "Cabrini" now in theaters nationwide. Cabrini High School, locally, has ties to Mother Cabrini because she founded an orphanage on the school's site and lived and worked there. Cabrini hosted a preview screening of the movie with a reception March 7, the day before it opened to the public.

Father Jose Roel Lungay, former pastor at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in the Bayou Liberty area of Slidell, recently passed away. He was 63 years old and deeply loved by parishioners, friends and family as was evident at a Funeral Mass celebrated March 8 by Archbishop Gregory Aymond.
